Let’s be Friends in 2019
Your support enriches the heart of ECU's health sciences
Dear Friends,
As another year comes to a close, I would like to express my thanks and gratitude to all of the current and new Friends of Laupus Library. Your advocacy and generosity allows us to provide excellent experiences and spaces for our students, staff, faculty and community. Some of our ongoing and new initiatives that your gifts support include:
- Access to technology. We make sure our students have access to the current technologies that will ensure their success. We are in the process of developing an Innovation Space which will include a student video production studio, high-end visualization software for presentation and research support, and a few other exciting features that will be unique on the Health Sciences campus.
- History Collections exhibits. Laupus showcases the rich history of the ECU’s health sciences through interpretive exhibits utilizing artifacts and archival materials. This fall we unveiled a new permanent exhibit on pirate medicine, with artifacts recovered from BlackBeard’s Queen Anne’s Revenge. We also have additional exciting exhibits planned for 2019.
- Pet Therapy and Exam Breaks. Laupus continues to host therapy animals and provides coffee, pizza and other snacks to help keep spirits and concentration levels high.
- Medical History Interest Group lecture series. Our spring semester lectures range in topic from public health nursing in North Carolina, to autism and its transformations, to military medicine and ethics.
Additionally, Laupus will celebrate its 50th anniversary serving health sciences programs at ECU in 2019. We are looking forward to honoring our legacy with events and other engaging surprises throughout the year.
With your help, we can remain a welcoming and engaging library that provides enriching, inclusive activities and events in the heart of our vibrant health sciences campus. To show your support, please consider joining the Friends of Laupus Library.
