Inman earns national collection development award

Megan Inman has excelled as a collection development librarian at Laupus.
Megan Inman gained national recognition recently from the Medical Library Association when named the 2025 winner of the Louise Darling Award for Distinguished Achievement in Collection Development in the Health Sciences.
Inman has been a faculty member at Laupus Library since 2008. She began working as a liaison librarian for the College of Allied Health and progressed to leading the library’s Collection Services Department, beginning in 2017.
She manages the electronic resources lifecycle for all the university’s Health Sciences information resources currently as a collection development librarian in Laupus.
“I am deeply honored to receive the Louise Darling Award from the Medical Library Association,” Inman said. “Being recognized alongside such accomplished peers in health sciences librarianship is both humbling and inspiring. This award is not only a personal milestone, but also a reflection of the collective effort and support of my colleagues at ECU and throughout the health sciences library community. I’m honored to be part of this field and excited for the continued opportunities to learn, grow and contribute.”
She was presented the award during the MLA virtual business meeting and awards ceremony.
Beth Ketterman, director of Laupus Library, noted that this is a well-earned award for Inman.
Award nominations are based on various factors, including overall distinction or leadership within collection development, production of a definitive publication related to collection development, the teaching of collection development and development of an extraordinary national information resource or collection.
