Laupus welcomes new faculty and staff
Five new faculty and staff joined the Laupus Library team this year. Two Laupus employees also started new roles within the library and in our excitement, we’d like to share a little about each of them.
Jana Schellinger, MLIS, AHIP
Liaison Librarian to the Brody School of Medicine
Jana is one of two liaisons to the Brody School of Medicine. She completed her library degree from the University of Kentucky in 2014 and has worked in health sciences libraries ever since. She is married and has two children and two fur babies.
Jamie Bloss, MLIS
Librarian Liaison to the College of Allied Health Sciences and School of Dental Medicine
Jamie joined the Laupus staff late this summer from the University of the South Pacific in Suva, Fiji where she worked as a librarian in the User Services Department. She has eight years of experience working in libraries and five serving as a librarian. Her interests include teaching information literacy skills and evidence-based practice, conducting user-centered reference work, and learning about educational technologies. She also currently teaches an undergraduate information literacy course online as an adjunct instructor for Kent State University.
Courtney Horns, MBA
Business Officer
Courtney joined ECU in 2018 and recently took on the role of Business Officer with Laupus Library this March. In her new role, Courtney supervises the administrative department which manages the library’s budgets, human resources, facilities, purchasing, policies and procedures and related administrative services.
Tami Santeramo, BS
Interlibrary Loan Coordinator
Tami joined ECU in 2019 and took the role of Interlibrary Loan Coordinator at Laupus Library this June. In her new role, Tami processes requests for borrowing and lending material to libraries and other organizations across North Carolina and the United States.
Carrie Forbes, MLS
Liaison Librarian to the College of Nursing
Carrie Forbes has worked at Laupus Library over 14 years, serving as the Interlibrary Loan Manager. She received her Master of Library Sciences from ECU in December of 2018 and was hired in April 2019 as a Liaison Librarian for the College of Nursing. Carrie has written several gluten-free cookbooks, loves animals, and has research interests in Graphic Medicine, “right-sizing” library collections, and ways to assist undergraduate nursing students manage personal stress and anxiety.
Catherine Linton
Collections Manager, The Country Doctor Museum
Catherine Linton joined the Country Doctor Museum as their new Collections Manager. She recently graduated with her Master of Arts in Public History from North Carolina State University. She gained valuable experience from her work at Oak View County Park in Raleigh and as an intern at the National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C.
Tawanda Mararike also joined this library staff this year as a University Library Technician in the Access Services department.
