Medical History Interest Group Lecture on Monday November 13
The Medical History Interest Group invites you to attend “Vaccines: Successes and Tribulations,” presented by professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Dr. John M. Lehman.
Dr. John M. Lehman will discuss the development of vaccines to protect against infectious diseases. The history is replete with successes and some failures, which have provided evidence supporting continued research and development of new vaccines. This presentation describes the utilization of human cells in the development of human vaccines.
John M. Lehman has been at BSOM/ECU for 14 years serving in various positions, which include the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies at BSOM, Associate Vice Chancellor for Research for the Division of Health Sciences and Acting Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies at ECU. He earned a B.S. from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science in bacteriology in 1964 and a Ph.D.in pathology from the University of Pennsylvania in 1970. He has served on numerous NIH study sections during his research career.
This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.
This lecture will also feature a pop-up exhibit about vaccines.
